Comprehensive 3GPP IoT testing

Mobileum’s dsTest offers server emulation and client simulation capabilities for comprehensive testing of 3GPP Cellular Internet of Things (CIoT) network interface functionality and performance, by using client simulators or provisioning a server emulator with the interfaces necessary to support end-to-end testing. Our tests support the Control Plane and User Plane optimizations that have been specified for CIoT, including those for the S1, S5/S8, and S11 interfaces such as Robust Header Compression (RoHC).

dsTest is known for its capacity and performance testing capabilities, providing stateful, standards-based applications that react appropriately to both expected and unexpected events, simplifying the performance testing process of the signaling core. 

Machine-type communications testing

Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications, or Machine-Type Communications (MTC), are a key segment in future cellular mobile packet data networks. Forecasts show that the MTC analytics industry will grow robustly over the next several years, with revenue segmentation for the five components that together enable analytics to be used in M2M services: data integration, data storage, core analytics, data presentation, and associated professional services. Mobileum's dsTest:
  • Supports the Control Plane and User Plane optimizations that have been specified for Cellular Internet of Things (CIoT), including those for the S1, S5/S8, and S11 interfaces. 
  • Supports the MTC Diameter (client and server) interfaces on the following MTC network entities in 3GPP LTE and 5G core networks.
  • Can surround a CIoT Serving Gateway Node (C-SGN) with all the interfaces needed to verify the MME, SGW, and PGW functions required of the C-SGN.

Mobileum’s dsTest supports C-SGN Testing in the Machine Type Communications (MTC) network segment, key in future cellular mobile packet data networks.   MTC specifications provide the ability to differentiate MTC devices, allowing operators to selectively handle these devices in congestion/overload situations.  3GPP has added specifications to integrate Cellular Internet of Things/Narrowband Internet of Things (CIoT/NB-IoT) communications into the overall network.
